This is one sick wreck. The truck trailer is almost indistinguishable and I have no clue how that red 4 door sedan got right into the middle of that mess.  I must add, from this angle, those police cruisers are perfectly lined up. This almost looks like one of those wild police chase videos you see that went way sideways.

A towing company called D & E Towing keeps pictures of some of the crazy truck wrecks, truck spills and sick shit they have responded to. Check out some of the not too safe driving damage done below. The guys at D & E must have had a challenging task of pulling all these wrecks out of the twisted mess, starting with this one that seems to be floating in a lake.

wrecks-in-lake.jpg

So what was this twisted and burned up wreck originally? Almost reminds me of a motorhome.

This upside down truck spill seems to have spilled its load of sand

Alcohol abuse maybe? Are those kegs of beer I see spilling out of that truck wreck? If not, they sure look like kegs of some sort. A good amount of aluminum is heading towards the recycling yard after this.

Yikes, WTF? that is one sick car wreck. I wish I knew what the story behind that crazy shit was.

Looks like a twisted up “liquid carrying” truck, but I may be wrong.

The suns going down but it may be a late night for this tow truck driver trying to deal with this very heavy mess

smart-car.jpgWell, can it? From the size of this lunchbox sized car the most obvious answer would be… are you kidding.  However, with U.S. gas prices now at around 5 bucks a gallon where I live, I believe more people will be leaning towards the smart car and far away from those giant Hummer monstrosities that became so popular in recent years.

Since the smart car is an electric car, we may see its popularity rise. Check it out, they are small

economical and easy to park parking a smart car

Ok, so now for the toughest test, car safety. In this video, the team sets up some crash challenges for the smart car to see how it stands up to auto accidents. The biggest test is at the end where they crash the smart car into a 20ton concrete rail at 70MPH.  There are no crash test dummies for these safety tests, however, I doubt they were really needed here.

I don’t think I’ll be exchanging my already small car for this one any time soon, not that I think that my small Dodge can survive the same test… but I guess I just feel a bit safer with a few extra feet of metal around me.

Insurance Institute Highway Safety -Top Safety Pick 2008 award winners.

WOW, I would have expected to find more American Cars in the list. The IIHS actually has crash safety figures for the last 10 years on all domestic and imported vehicles. The auto safety report below is for 2008 and previous years are below that as a link.

1-17-07-severe-crash-3.gif

Many of the safety tests are for both 40mph frontal crashes and low speed crashes, here are a few note worthy ones…
Minivan bumper test results: Nissan Quest is by far the worst performer (2007)

Bumpers on luxury cars aren’t luxurious: worst is Infiniti G35; 4 of 11 cars sustain more than $10,000 damage in 4 minor bumps (2007)

most car bumpers don’t work in low-speed crashes; 3 cars sustain $4,500 damage in 6 mph test while old Ford Escort sustains little damage (2007)

And the 2008 car safety all around winners are…..

I bet she float really well too and avoid drowning if her car ever flew into a lake. How giant bad boob jobs may save your life.

Now mind you, I did not get this story from a reputable source, but it seemed reasonable to me.

A Bulgarian car crash victim was saved by her humongous knockers during a car crash.

boob job saves driver as airbags

Elena Marinova, 24, from Sofia, was involved in a full frontal crash with another car in the northern city of Ruse. A police expert explained that the 40DD silicone implants absorbed the impact of the crash.

“They worked just like airbags - protecting the victim’s ribs and vital organs from damage”

Go figure, I always thought they were a bad idea, gotta say I may have been wrong.

wrecked porscheSo I have no idea how this expensive car wreck got resolved, but here is the story…

This is from a discussion from a year back, but it’s interesting how this customer got treated after the dealer wrecked his very nice Porsche 996 on a test drive.

This is a discussion on a board started by the owner of the porsche

I brought my ‘03 996 cab to the dealer for minor warranty work. On a road test, the tech got into an accident in my car. The impact was to the front right portion of the car. Headlamp assembly, hood, bumper, fender, door, radiators, wheel well plastics, wires, hoses, etc. It looks like at least $10,000 in repairs. My car has approx. 16,000 miles and was perfect in all ways before the wreck. What should I do???? I would think that it’s not too much for me to ask them to buy my car for at least the market value just before the wreck. What do you think?

wreckporche9961.JPGSupposedly, the tech driving my car was making a left hand turn against 2 lanes of traffic. From what he said, he was motioned by the driver of the oncoming car closest to him, to make his dangerous turn, and never saw the other car coming in the other lane, which resulted in the accident. The tech was ticketed for the accident

OK, wrecks happen. They just do, but the way a dealership deals with someone is what we are talking about here. I could attempt to wax poetic regarding what jerks they are being but, instead read some of these quotes for yourself, from the owner of the car:

After today’s meeting with 3 of the dealerships manager’s, I don’t feel any better about the situation. I told them what I wanted and they told me what they want to do for me. Basically, repair the car and give it back to me. I absolutely refused that suggestion and demanded to be made “whole”. Apparently, no one in the meeting had any authority to deal with me. I allowed them to get an estimate from their body shop. And am awaiting a phone call back from the “real” GM. I will keep you informed….

But this is when the dealership just get’s stupid.

Man goes 76 years without an accident just to get into a great one at the age of 93.

Seems that feeling that you gotta try everything al least once, Mr. Higgs took out 2 showroom porches with his little compact car.

man wrecks 2 porchesMr Higgs, a retired Pentecostal minister, was parking next to a Porsche showroom when his car shot backwards.

First, his 13-year-old hatchback hit a gleaming red Carrera II which acted as a ramp, causing Mr Higgs’s car to flip over on to a silver Porsche 911 parked alongside.

If you are going to have an accident after 76 years of incident-free motoring, you might as well do it in style - though that was the last thing on Jack Higgs’s mind as he hurtled towards two Porsches.

Staff in the showroom ran outside to be confronted by a scene of wreckage and Mr Higgs hanging upside down by his seatbelt in his overturned car.

Clothing Tycoon William Bianchi will not make anyones best dressed lists for this crazywilliambianchi-car-wreck.jpg wreck. It seems that following a costume party where Bianchi was dressed as a roman gladiator, he had a fiery run in with another car. Police suspect he may have had a bit too much to drink at his costume party. William also failed to stop after the DUI accident.

It did not take police too long to figure this out. There was a burning car just hit by a roman gladiator dressed up as a drunk driver and a drunk driver dressed as a roman gladiator in a hospital whose face and eye brows looked a bit singed. Police did say that he looked more like Wiley Coyote after a failed, as always, bombing run on the roadrunner than Russel Crowe in Gladiator.

The roman breast plate may have helped protect his drunken ass from the flames. Superman, Bianchi’s buddy, was waiting for him in the hospital lobby. After being questioned for suspicion of DWI / DUI he may have admitted to having a couple drinks.

here is the full William Bianchi drunken car crash / hit and run story from DailyMail

It didn’t take long for police to find clothing tycoon William Bianchi when he fled after crashing his car into a tree while drunk.

For a start he was dressed as a Roman gladiator and was wearing black bodypaint.

The fact that his hair was also badly singed also helped to identify him as a man who had just escaped a burning car.

William Bianchi was found by police in hospital with singed hair ‘looking like Wile E Coyote’
